Featuring smaller particles than a traditional scrub, Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant combines both physical and chemical exfoliants to uncover smooth, glowing skin. Made from a base of ground rice, this product is packaged in powdered form. Activated by mixing with water, the powder includes rice enzymes, Papain (papaya enzymes), and Salicylic Acid which penetrate the skin to help resurface and brighten. It also contains soothing ingredients like Green Tea, Ginko, and Colloidal Oatmeal. Plus it is gentle enough to use everyday. Try using Daily Microfoliant in the mornings and the Daily Resurfacer at night to combat premature aging.

While the occasional back rub from your sweetie is wonderful, new studies are showing that professional massage may have more significant benefits than just feeling great (as if you need another reason!).
Multiple new studies are concluding that massage can help with many significant and increasingly common ailments such as:
Chronic Pain – more and more people are dealing with some kind of chronic pain, whether it be in the low back, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, or diabetic nerve pain. Massage has demonstrated an increased level of functionality and more pain reduction versus traditional medical treatment. Plus, massage patients were using less anti-inflammatory drugs than others.
Anxiety and Depression – needless to say, these are also growing issues in our modern culture. Luckily, massage has been shown to decrease cortisol (the stress hormone) levels by up to 50% in one treatment. Additionally, massage stimulates the production of serotonin and dopamine, two neurotransmitters which help to reduce depression.
Reduce Blood Pressure – regular treatments are proven to reduce blood pressure.
Boost Immunity – massage treatments can increase the activity level of killer T-cells in the body, the cells which kill off bacteria and infections.
We would like to invite you in for one of our multiple massage treatments, now offered on Saturdays as well! 970-266-2596.

Summer is almost here! With this wonderful season comes the joys of bug bites, scrapes, sunscreen . . . But here are some facts and tips to make it go a little easier this year.
Sunscreens: Choose one that is at least 30 SPF, and protects against UVA and UVB (or says Broad Spectrum) rays. For the face, make sure to buy a product that is non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores).
Chlorine: The pool is a summer mainstay, but make sure to rinse off in fresh water as soon as you can after swimming. Chlorine is incredibly drying for the skin, eyes, and hair. Even just prolonged amounts of time in the water can dry out your skin (I know this seems counter-intuitive, but it’s true!) so make sure to use your moisturizer!
Scrapes and Cuts: Moms, listen up! Don’t put antibiotic ointment on every cut this summer – it can actually cause your child to become more resistant to antibiotics. Also, don’t re-clean the wound everyday, and especially not with hydrogen peroxide or iodine – this actually shocks the wound and can interrupt the healing process. Instead, clean the scrape once, rub on some petroleum jelly (this will keep the wound moist for a more supple scab and less scarring, as well as act like a seal for dirt) and a light bandaid. Don’t worry if you see some slight pinkness, inflammation is a sign of healing – if it is red and hot, see your doctor.
Shaving: Along with shorts and tank tops comes constant shaving, and sometimes skin irritation. Make sure you are always using a sharp razor. If possible, always shave after (or during) a shower – the heat and moisture plumps and primes the skin to prevent razor burn. Use a moisturizing shave cream during and a moisturizer directly after to calm the skin. Lastly, if you still get razor burn or dermatitis (little pimple-like bumps), try applying white vinegar to the area a few times a day – it is a natural astringent.
Many people are tired of their oily skin . . .are you sick of that mid-day slick and shine effect? Here are some tips to help control that oil!
First, if you think that harsh, drying treatments like alcohol wipes or sun exposure are the answer…. THINK AGAIN. These are some of the worst things you can do for your oily skin.
Daily exfoliation is going to be key. The oil on your skin acts like a glue, keeping dirt and dead skin cells around to clog your pores. Check with your skincare pro to see whether a physical (actual scrub) or chemical exfoliator would be best for you, but exfoliate daily!
Next step, always apply a moisturizer. This might seem counter-intuitive, but oily skin often lacks moisture (water). Dermalogica makes a great moisturizer with SPF (a must for oily skin too) that features ingredients that will help to keep a matte finish throughout the day – It is called Oil Free Matte. Some moisturizers also include minerals or micro-sponges to help absorb excess oil throughout the day.
Lastly, use a clay based cleanser daily and apply a clay based masque twice a week to control excess oil production.
